This year our competition for Tech Industry Gold degree students, is taking an exciting new twist as we launch a new format.
Teams – or individuals – will pitch to our panel of Tech Titans live during our Spring event, kindly hosted by BT in Birmingham on 16 March.
Each competitor (team or individual) will be given one million (virtual) Tech Industry Gold pounds. They will need to explain how they will invest this in their business, to develop their products or services, and to return a great investment.
The business and its products or services should be for the greater good and improving society. The pitch must show how tech will be used to deliver on the business’s objectives, and how those involved have applied the Tech Industry Gold skillset of:
- Technical skills
- Business skills
- Project management skills
- Professional skills.
It may be an idea you have already had, so no need to invent the wheel, but think about your investment and how you pitch it.
Our judges will feature leading tech talent from industry including entrepreneurs, tech advocates and inspirational employers. This is a time to shine!
Your chance to ‘Pitch to the Tech Titans’ will take place on 16 March 2022, the exact timings will be confirmed to each team or individual by 11 March 2022.
There are two entry/prize categories as follows:
- First year student teams or individuals
- Second and Final Year student teams or individuals
A maximum of three teams or individuals per year group can take part in the challenge. So, it could be two teams and one individual, three teams and no individuals and so on.
Each team or individual will be asked to pitch live for up to a maximum of five minutes to a panel of four or five ‘Tech Titans’ (employer judges).
You can use any media, animation, props or prototypes in your live pitch. Think/Watch Dragons Den for inspiration. The main thing is to be as creative as you can and to have some fun doing it!
The winning team or individual in each category will receive a trophy and £500. There will also be runners up prizes of £300 and £200 for each second and third team or individual. There will also be individual spot prizes to individual students who stand out within teams if appropriate.
All prize winners will receive Tech Industry Gold digital credentials.
You will need to provide your team or individual name (usually the name of your solution), year group, and university to [email protected] by midnight on 6 March 2022. You do not need to provide any other information at this point, it’s just so we know how many teams or individuals will be entering for scheduling purposes.
You will need to provide a one-page summary (words / photographs / diagrams) of your idea to [email protected] by midnight on 13 March 2022. The Tech Titans can then review this before meeting you at the event.
Please contact Sue Stevens ([email protected]) if you have any questions.
