Every year TechSkills partners with IBM to offer one Tech Industry Gold degree student an exclusive Summer Placement at Wimbledon. IBM is responsible for supplying specific IT services prior to, and during, The Wimbledon Championships. This placement gives one student the incredible opportunity to work as part of their team and deliver one of the biggest sporting events in the world.
“I’m thrilled to share my extraordinary 4-week summer placement with IBM at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships! As a Trojan, I had the privilege of being part of a dynamic team responsible for set up, support, data insights, and operations during this prestigious event.
Collaborating with IBM, I was amazed by the power of generative AI technology, specifically WatsonX, which accurately predicted likelihood to win, path to the final, and much more. Additionally, I had the honor of witnessing the groundbreaking AI Commentary, providing tennis commentary for IBM’s AI Highlights reels during Wimbledon.
Throughout my placement, I immersed myself in data analytics, uncovering valuable patterns and trends that significantly improved decision-making. Contributing to such vital aspects of the event was an unforgettable experience, and I’m truly grateful for the knowledge gained and the impact made.
Working alongside the IBM team made my summer placement at IBM Wimbledon even more enriching. Their expertise, collaboration, and camaraderie created a supportive environment where we thrived together as a cohesive unit.
