Global Knowledge Apprenticeships become first provider of Tech Industry Gold accredited Level 3 apprenticeship

Top 10 ranked Apprenticeship training provider becomes the first to achieve Tech Industry Gold accreditation for the Level 3 Information Communication Technician Apprenticeship Standard, recognising high quality delivery of a vital digital skills development pathway.

TechSkills is pleased to announce that Global Knowledge Apprenticeships, a leading provider of IT/Digital Apprenticeship training, has achieved Tech Industry Gold accreditation for its Level 3 Information Communication Technician Apprenticeship Programme.

Tech Industry Gold is the only industry accreditation for tech and digital, recognising education and training for its quality and relevance to careers. This recognition by TechSkills confirms the quality and relevance of GKA’s training for entry to tech careers, following a rigorous process of review and assessment against priority industry needs.

GKA is the first company to be awarded Tech Industry Gold accreditation for Apprenticeships at Level 3, building on the long heritage TechSkills has in accrediting degrees and degree apprenticeships providing high quality pathways into employment.

Employers can now select the Tech Industry Gold accredited Level 3 ICT programme for the development of Apprentices typically in first line support, fault resolution, and solution implementation roles across the 3 available pathway options of Support, Networking, and Digital Communications. This Standard provides a vital platform for the transition of talent not yet employed or qualified in the IT/Digital sector to kick start their careers in tech. With the widely known shortage of labour in the UK digital skills sector, this recognition allows employers a guarantee in increasing their skills capability and help future proof their organisation.

The learners themselves benefit as they secure Tech Industry Gold accredited Apprenticeships assured in the quality and relevance of the training to boost their career development and progression. Upon completion, successful learners will also be awarded Tech Industry Gold Digital Credentials which further endorse their job-competent skills in a form which makes it easy for employers to identify and understand.

Kelly Nicholls, CEO, TechSkills commented:

“We are delighted to accredit the first Tech Industry Gold Level 3 apprenticeship and to welcome GK Apprenticeships to the Tech Industry Gold community. As a not-for-profit, employer led organisation, we are passionate about helping to plug the digital skills gap in the UK and to diversifying the UK’s workforce in the tech sector.

“Tech Industry Gold accreditation means employers can have confidence that learners are gaining the skills that their industry peers have defined, meaning programmes will blend business, technology, project and professional skills. After a long history of accrediting degrees and degree apprenticeships from their first conception, we are now expanding our offering to encompass new pathways, in order that as many people can be given the opportunity to access a career in tech as possible.”

Paul Freeman, Managing Director, GK Apprenticeships commented:

“It gives us immense pride to be the first company to achieve industry accreditation for a Level 3 apprenticeship training programme and in particular be recognised by the Tech Industry Gold community as a high quality provider. We pride ourselves on ‘putting the learner at the heart of what we do’ and are delighted to see this recognised within our submission. We firmly believe that everyone should have the opportunity to maximise their potential and we want to be recognised as the most valued provider of IT apprenticeships.  This accreditation reinforces we are on the right track to achieving that aim. GK Apprenticeships will continue to focus on providing the best possible learner experience and help organisations, no matter what size, address the digital skills gaps they have.”

This announcement for TechSkills builds on their prior success in Higher Education, where it has transformed the employment prospects of students, delivered rapid growth in degree apprenticeships, and made tangible improvements to both gender balance and social mobility.
