Options are endless and opportunities are open to all.

As reported by techUK and CWJobs, ‘despite the impact of COVID-19 affecting jobs and employment across all sectors, the tech industry has proved resilient throughout the pandemic and continues to grow, offering increased opportunities for candidates in the UK.’ The options are endless, from the more technical positions to the myriad of digital roles dedicated to making the most of technology in every aspect of our lives.

In addition, employers are keen to reflect the diversity of the population as exemplified by initiatives such as the TechTalent Charter. There’s no doubt that a larger and more representative talent pool ultimately benefits employers, individuals and society as a whole, which means more opportunities for all.

But where to start if you have an interest in the sector or are curious about whether a digital or tech job could be for you?

There’s a number of different routes available, including the degree path which is rising in popularity as reflected in the latest figures released by UCAS. As an example of someone who has taken this route, hear Caitlin’s story about graduating from Northumbria University and going on to work as a SAP consultant at Capgemini.

The degree apprenticeship option is also proving popular, where you work and learn at the same time and gain a degree. Hear about Ashley’s Degree Apprenticeship journey studying at the University of Exeter while working at IBM.

If you’re looking to find out more, make sure you do your research and choose a path supported by and engaging employers, ensuring you gain the skills and knowledge in demand. Tech is at the heart of any business role today and programmes should reflect that – providing a balanced mix of business, technical and professional skills.

The following sites will help you explore the options available in a wide variety of roles across all sectors.

From hospitality, retail, creative and to healthcare, transport, and charities, the great thing about tech is that it is now more important than ever across every industry.

In addition, if you are interested in a company in particular, note that most larger organisations will have information on tech careers and training programmes on their own sites.

We hope the information below will be of help. All the best in your search and career.
