In June 2021, 46 Tech Industry Gold Degree Apprentices were awarded a Certificate of Merit at the Tech Industry Gold Degree Apprenticeship Event, nominated by their employer and university.
The standard of entrants was outstanding showcasing individuals’ contributions as software developers, data scientists, UX designers, nuclear engineers, network architects, and business intelligence developers. The opportunities offered to Degree Apprentices help them develop their skillset comprising project management, leadership, teamwork, data analytics, time-management, and much, much more whilst studying for a Bsc Digital & Technology Solutions.
‘The number of self-development opportunities offered by both my employer and the university have been astronomical and allowed me to grow as an individual. These topics cover things like critical writing and reading, time management, diversity and inclusion, carbon literacy, and many more important topics; all whilst allowing me to interact with individuals from all walks of life.’ Ibrahim Atcha, Degree Apprentice at AutoTrader, studying at Manchester Metropolitan University
In addition to receiving a Certificate of Merit, each nominee has provided a comprehensive case study or citation detailing their day-to-day roles as degree apprentices, their ambitions, and the challenges.
‘The apprenticeship is a win-win situation. You don’t lose on anything since you are as much a student as you are an employee. Meaning, you can still fully engage in student life and societies all while working and getting paid for a full-time job! At the end of the course, you have a degree and four years’ work experience.’ Vaiva Bauzite, Degree Apprentice at Entrust, studying at Anglia Ruskin University.
Tech Industry Gold degree apprenticeships aim to create a highly valuable broad network of talent supported by a range of employers who are helping to invest in their future.
‘The best experience so far has to be the wide network I’ve been able to grow. Learning from and working with experienced professionals has filled me with confidence and allowed me to prove myself much more. The lessons you learn are invaluable and possibilities are endless.’ Naimat Kaur, St James’ Place Wealth Management, studying at the University of Gloucestershire
